The 12 bar blues are standard for anyone who wants to learn to play blues guitar.
They are the most meaningful chord method in western guitar music.
The 12 bar blues consist of 3 lines. Everyone of these lines is subdivided into 4 bars. That makes a total of 12 bars. There are 4 beats in each bar.
The most common chord direction comprises of the 1st, 4th and 5th chords. This will sometimes be written as I, IV, V.
If this notation is modern to you, the Roman numeral refers to the notes position in the scale.
So as example let's gaze at the guide of C extensive - the easiest scale to drink in whereas there are no sharps/flats.
The scale of C looks like this:
C (I), D (II), E (III), F (IV), G (V), A (VI), B (VII), C (VIII)
