building a guitar the machine heads

Having owned and played guitars for over twenty five years I have owned lots and lots of different makes and models of guitars, some good, some awful but the acoustic slide weissenborn still fascinates me quite beyond comparison. Why is that? Well, the sound is really quite like nothing at all, nothing compares. These guitars stand up, make a statement, "Here I am, I'm different, play me if you can, I'm a sonofabitch to learn but if you can get your head round this, then I will sing for you and make you days happy! " Think I'm joking? go and try one, you will see what I mean... then after you have made a goose of yourself in the music shop, go down the road and buy a Jeff Lang Cd or Bob Brozman album and just check those dudes out!

Big Brother TV Reality Show

Big Brother refers to the George Orwell book titled 1984, in which government knows everything about you and what you happen to be up to. The concept made its leap to the television airwaves when a Dutch producer came up with the idea of putting a group of people into a house devoid of any outside social influences. The house, however, is not devoid of influences. Cameras are everywhere and the Big Brotherâ s producers are always at the ready to jump on their hp printer and inject a little controversy to make their â ratsâ jump. The formula appears to work for television, as the concept is now used in many countries, with slightly differing twists according to those countries social norms.

The main theme of spirituals

Slavery was a very significant issue facing churches because slaves were allowed to go to Church. Few Christian ministers wrote against on slavery. Rural slaves were also allowed to stay after the regular Christian worship services, in churches or, if in plantation, then in so called "praise houses", to sing and to dance in honor of God. But they were no allowed to organize any dancing and playing drums, so frequent in Africa. The slaves also had secret places for meetings where they shared their pains, joys and hopes. They called such meetings "camp meetings" or "bush meetings", depending on the region. In rural regions, lots of slaves were gathered together to listen to some itinerant preachers and to sing spirituals for many hours long.

Radio 101: Advantages and applications of Pulse Code Modulation

The principal advantage of Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) is the noise immunity. But it is not used exclusively. Other pulse modulation systems are still used in spite of highly superior performance of PCM. The reasons are that firstly those systems came earlier secondly PCM needs very complex encoding and quantizing circuitry and thirdly PCM requires larger bandwidth as compared to analog systems. In spite of these three implementations PCM is fast gaining popularity and is being used increasingly. The reasons are very simple. PCM no doubt requires much more complex modulating procedures than analog systems. But multiplexing equipment is much cheaper. Further distance between repeaters is large because PCM tolerates much worse signal to noise ratios.

Nancy Wilson R.S.V.P. Jazz Music CD Review

The super talented Jazz artist Nancy Wilson has released her latest CD on the MCG Jazz / Manchester Craftsmen's Gld recording label, entitled R.S.V.P.. It's a rare day indeed that I get a CD from an artist that I can truthfully say does not have a bad track in the bunch. I'm more than happy to announce thatâ s exactly what I must say about this one. There simply is NOT a bad one in the bunch. No fillers here at all, with each song standing tall on it's own. One of the nicer things about a CD like this is when the talent is this rich even if Jazz isnâ t your favorite genre you still canâ t help but appreciate the greatness of the artist. If you're even mildly into Jazz music you'll enjoy this album.

The melodic characteristics of spirituals and the proper idiom of singing.

In the USA the rhythmic element, still dominant in spirituals, has contributed considerably to the melodic one and the dance gave way to religious worship, sensual body movements. The actual techniques of the native negro singing, with its syllabic voice vibration, the off-tones and tone wave gliding, the extemporized insertions and, above all, the delicate rhythmic phrase balance, is associated with the protection of the unique vital qualities of these songs. During the process of the Spirituals art material development, the musician has not only a significant advantage but also a peculiar function and duty. Preserving spiritual similarity in the best traditions of this no doubt great folk art, one must step forth as the recognized device of both its distribution and its further development.

The Many Different types of Interference: Knowing is Half the Battle.

Apart from noise, other forms of interference are found in radio receivers such as image frequency, transmitters operating on an adjacent channel and transmitters operating on the same channel. Frequency modulation provides not only improvement in the sound noise ratio but also greater discrimination against all other interfering signals, no matter what their source. As we know the frequency modulation with maximum deviation of around 75 kHz pre-emphasis provides noise rejection of at least 23 db better than amplitude modulation. Accordingly if an amplitude modulation receiver needs sound noise ratio of 60 db at the detector foe excellent performance, then a frequency modulation receiver will provide the same performance for sound noise ratio of only 37 db.
