The five secrets of building a Weissenborn guitar

For over twenty years I had always been very curious about building a guitar. I had played acoustic guitars almost since I could remember. I had a great mate who lived just down the road from and we did everything together so when he announced he was going to learn to play guitar, naturally, I didn't want to be left out! We bought a couple of new guitars and practised hard together even on cold Winter's night we went to the local Laundrette to practise when our folks threw us out! ... ... Yes, my enthusiasm has never waned all through my great hippy youth until today where I find myself living on a yacht in Australia with eight wonderful guitars at the dodgy age of fifty eight.

The secret of the Weissenborn sound

I have been buying and playing guitars for around thirty years and it's true to say that I certainly have owned quite a few! My real passion is guitars and I have been fascinated not only how they sound but I can always tell how good they sound by the reaction of people when they hear some of the guitars that I have owned and played... .not of course, because of how I play but how the sound of a certain guitar seems to really 'ring a bell' with them. My dobro, for example has really good reactions from people even as you take it out of the case..they seem to be fascinated by the lairy, shiny, chrome, almost kitsch effect that this thing has... .it's actually a good job it sounds ok too!

How to convert your guitar into a lapslide

There is something addictive about guitar playing that just seems to suck you in further than you meant to go... a bit like sex, rum, red wine, chocolate someone else's wife, luscious things that don't seem very good for you... the only thing is, guitars, especially acoustic lap steel guitars of the Weissenborn kind, are actually positively good, very good for you... truly! You are doing something constructive, quite unlike slugging back half a bottle of Cabernet shiraz in one go, or scoffing down a whole packet of M and M's when you girlfriend isn't around... .no, guitar playing is very good for your mental health, disposition, relaxation and manual dexterity( oh.

For Her has a nicely varied, mix of 11 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly superb artist.

Digital Music Format Opens Doors for Indie Bands and Unsigned Artists

The digital revolution is washing away the distinction between mainstream music and indie bands. Sure, we will always have mega-artists the likes of Madonna and The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney, but now we are seeing the rising of the indie class. In part, record labels are embracing the indie class, particularly labels that are one or two degrees of separation from the major labels. But the real surge carrying the indie class towards the mainstream is the spawn of digital music. Indie bands are gaining wide exposure to new listeners by focusing their efforts on digital music. Spreading the word is as simple as converting your music to mp3 and letting fans share and share alike.

Learn Guitar Basics And Walk Before You Run

For those looking to learn any instrument, a firm grasp of the basics is what is necessary to begin. Most who embark upon this learning process quickly realize that a strong foundation must be built on which more complicated techniques will come to rest after time. The guitar especially comes with finger techniques that must be mastered before any complex learning can take place; that is why it is so important, when first discovering this instrument, to first learn guitar basics. Learning guitar basics can be done in a number of different ways. For some, working with a guitar instructor is paramount to their success. They know that they need another person to push them and set expectations in order to put in the hard work that is necessary to master the guitar.

Fugazi - 5 Dollar Shows, 10 Dollar Albums And 1,000,000 Dollar Passion

Few bands in recent years have enjoyed the critical acclaim that this influential rock band has received. Formed in 1987 by the remnants of crucial hardcore bands Embrace and Rites of Spring, this band has reached the title of underground legends. This reputation is not the result of their evolution of hardcore punk and their experimentation with several other musical genres but of their ethics and ideals. This essay's purpose is to expose one of the best bands of the American underground. Fugazi is composed of vocalist and guitarist Ian Mackaye, vocalist and guitarist Guy Picciotto, bassist Joe Lally, and drummer Brendan Canty. To start to chronicle Fugazi"s history, one must first look at their hardcore roots.
